Nao By Lladro Victorian Shoe, Retired 60's! Extra Rare
I'm offering a extremely rare Nao by Lladro porcelain shoe. This is one of a series of shoes that were made in the late 60's when Lladro created the Nao line. The details in the shoe and the colors and the way it is executed are typical Lladro quality, superior to much of the collectible porcelain on the market. Nao is suppose to be their lesser line of porcelain, but this series of shoes are exceptional. My information is sketchy on this, but supposedly the shoes were transition pieces, at least at first, and then became strictly Nao productions for a brief period.
I did speak to someone at Lladro to glean more information and was told that somewhere shortly after their production, the Nao shoes were retired in favor of strictly figural pieces. Lladro did manage to come up with a catalog number however and a title, but with cautions as to the correctness of the number and title. I was told that this shoe is called "Turn of the Century" and the number was L-82.
I did send off photos to Lladro of the marks, and they are genuine Nao. I was also told by Lladro that they didn't keep good records at the time of the production of these shoes. And search for Nao pre-production.

This one has a minor chip in the heal that is a manufacturing defect. It was glazed and fired over and is barely noticable. I'm pricing this accordingly, but because of the rarity of the pieces this is not a big concern.
Again, because of the rarity of this piece it is a minor devaluation. This shoe measures a dainty 6 1/2"x 2 1/2"x 3 1/2 tall at the heel. Because of the missing box, I promise you it will be packed to survive a nuclear blast!
Please note that on my most recent call to Lladros to ask some more questions, I was told they were planning on starting up a Nao collectors society in the future. This is an inevitability since Nao figures have all the charm of many fine collectibles that have clubs.
